The popular speedrunning-based charity event is returning in 2023! Games Done Quick announced that its annual Awesome Games Done Quick event will return as an online-only event, which will take place January 8-15, 2023. As usual, the event will run 24 hours a day throughout the speedrunning marathon and it will be live-streamed on the Games Done Quick Twitch channel.
Awesome Games Done Quick 2023 will be held in support of Prevent Cancer Foundation, dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection. Viewers can donate directly to the charity during the event on the Games Done Quick website.
Games Done Quick has been hosting speedrunning marathons for more than a decade. The purpose is simple: Expert players from around the world highlight their skills by beating games as quickly as possible. All the while, viewers give donations in a raucous livestream, the proceeds of which are given directly to the event's charity partner.
I always enjoy when these marathon events take place because we get to see a few world records broken and witness the top-skill levels of some of the runners that take part in the event.
