COMMAND & CONQUER REMASTERED COLLECTION Update Adds In LAN Support!

Back in the old days, one of the best ways to experience multiplayer games of Command & Conquer was through the use of LAN. Lugging around our old windows machines to a friend’s house was a chore but the payoff was always so worth it! Well, once you got it working that is. Apparently enough people have the same nostalgia for the mode that I do as EA has patched the functionality into the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection! With LAN support, players of CnC Remastered can play as they did in the old days and bring their gaming machine over to a friend’s house and going to town.

Things are slightly different this time around though as the new LAN mode features mod support for you to make some truly interesting matches with. The game will even let you know which mods you will need to get in order to play which is great considering the sheer number that are available. The newest patch also brings in new community maps into matchmaking so if LAN isn’t your thing you can still go to war on some of the community’s best new maps. A number of bugs and exploits have also been patched to make sure the games come down to skill instead of cheating.

For campaign players, a number of issues that have been found throughout the course of the game have also been addressed to ensure a better experience. Anyone having trouble with the final GDI mission should see the problems resolved! Oh, and airstrikes during NOD missions should also be less destructive as the planes will return to their classic one target mode instead of hitting up to three different things. Sure this is more in-line with the original release but I think I will actually miss the death from above now that I have gotten used to it…

Patch highlights include

  • LAN play functionality with Mod support

  • The incorporation of top community maps into the official Quickmatch map pool

  • A host of balance adjustments to address top in-game exploits and community issues

  • Dozens of bug fixes and quality of life improvements
