Yesterday’s State of Play conference has come and gone with a number of cool announcements. One of these was that Control would be getting its second story DLC later this month! The expansion, known as AWE (Altered World Event), sends Jessie Faden back into the Oldest House to explore new areas and meet new challenges. This particular part of the Oldest House is where Altered World Events items, much like the one that began Jessie’s journey in the first place, were stored and studied. Some of these items have had devastating impacts on the world like causing the disappearance of a certain writer from another Remedy franchise. AWE will release on August 27th across PS4, PC, and Xbox One for a standalone price of $14.99 or $24.99 if you grab the expansion pass which includes both AWE and the previously released The Foundation DLC.
If AWE is anything like The Foundation DLC, I expect we will be getting a good amount of hours exploring the new sections of the Oldest House. I am also loving the Remedy is bringing in the events of Alan Wake into Control’s world. I know a lot of us have been waiting for more Alan Wake related material and this aspect of AWE alone has me riveted! If you are wanting to see more of AWE before launch, you can catch the first 15 minutes of it in action August 13 over on Twitch. The preview is going to be hosted by Remedy’s Creative Director Sam Lake and Control Game Director Mikael Kasurinen. Alongside the first look treatment, the pair will also dive into Remedy’s approach to storytelling and world-building.
In other Control news, it has been confirmed that the game is going to be heading to PS5 and Xbox Series X in the future!
