Plaion and Deep Silver Dambuster Studios are reminding everyone that “HELL-A” will be fully explorable in just under 2 months, with the launch of Dead Island 2. Lately, all of the recent gameplay trailers have been very minimal and typically under 2 minutes long, mostly revealing the six different playable slayers. However, we now have a meaty 14-minute pure gameplay trailer dedicated to showing off the combat and different types of zombies we will encounter in the game.

The extended gameplay reveal shows us slayer Dani’s move set and skills. She is an Ireland native and loves to get up close and personal. The beauty of Dead Island 2 is the freedom it will give players in regard to combat. Skills and tarot cards can be used freely throughout the game, allowing players to try new methods of combat to best suit their playstyle and mission type. Want to be a brawler? No problem, select tank-oriented skills and weapons. The next mission could be completely range focused and have you stick to your arsenal of weapons. It’s great to see flexibility in combat to try to keep things fresh.

The trailer also highlights the game’s cutting-edge dismemberment tech, known as FLESH (Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids). Zombies can be killed in nearly limitless ways and this new system shows detail and realism in every swing and blow. Eyeballs popping, legs flying, and heads splitting will all look remarkably violent and satisfying.
