PAYDAY 2 Devs Admit They Dropped The Ball With Console Version And Promises PAYDAY 3 Will Be Worth The Wait

Starbreeze Studios and Overkill Software have just released a new developer diary for Payday 3 showcasing some new gameplay and discussing a few topics dear to the community. Speaking of community, it is extremely important for Starbreeze to keep its Payday community united. Thus, Payday 3 will have crossplay support at launch. Check out the dev diary above for more details.

Keeping console and PC players together is the key to Payday 3’s formula and it will all be possible with Starbreeze's new account system, Nebula. Players will be able to sign up and create their own accounts in order to play online with cross-platform functionality. The team also indicated that the studio may have dropped the ball when it came to Payday 2 on consoles. Fans of the series will undoubtedly agree with this statement in regard to the parity between PC and console versions of Payday 2. But, even with the utter shrugged shoulder to the console ports, the community hung in there for the gameplay. Starbreeze is here to say that this won’t happen with Payday 3 and fans can expect fair treatment across platforms.

It was also noted that Payday 3 will only launch on modern Gen consoles simply because the developers wanted to release the best version of the game they possibly could make. This is all great news for console Payday players and it's great to know that the full crossplay functionality is key to the future of this title. Starbreeze is expecting to service the game for quite some time.

Payday 3 is launching on September 21 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and EGS.
