Coronavirus concerns have struck again as it now seems that EA is pulling out of next month’s Game Developers Conference over the disease. EA isn’t the only company to scale back its event presence due to the widespread nature of the disease as Sony, Square Enix, Kojima Productions, and Facebook have all already done so and are not likely the last. With the widespread reach of an event like GDC, it comes as no surprise that sickness could be more easily spread and I am all for companies reducing risks to their employees. While this news is likely to hurt GDC and other events like PAX East, I find myself inclined to agree that it just isn’t worth the risk.
If you are planning to attend a major event in the next few weeks be sure to take every precaution to safeguard your health, its getting crazy out there.
