Get Caught Up On CAPCOM's Showcase At Tokyo Game Show 2022

This past weekend was the Tokyo Game Show 2022 and a bunch of publishers ended up participating. One team that is always worth watching is Capcom and this year their showcase was a mix of games. From the return of retro titles to the updates on their upcoming titles, they had quite a bit to share.

STREET FIGHTER 6

Starting off, they revealed that Street Fighter 6 continues its momentum with knockout combinations of new info on World Tour and Battle Hub, four character reveals, the new Extreme Battle mode, plus the unveil of an upcoming Closed Beta Test.

In the World Tour mode, players will be able to create their own avatars with a multitude of customization options to reflect their personal styles and flair. As players progress through the immersive story mode, they’ll hone their avatar’s strength through Street Fights with various NPCs and meet masters like Ryu and Chun-Li who will teach them special moves from their own repertoires.

In the Battle Hub mode, players can take their customized avatars into the Battle Hub, which serves as the lobby area to find matches against other players from around the world including online tournaments. When two players sit down at one of the arcade cabinets placed back-to-back throughout the Battle Hub, they can kick-off a match with the whole Battle Hub as their audience. Plus, you can play some retro titles from the series here.

There’s also the all-new Extreme Battle mode where players enter the Fighting Ground to offer a new way to spice up matches with unconventional parameters. These fast and frantic battles are defined by new Rules and Gimmicks that make every match an experience anyone can enjoy.

Before closing out Street Fighter 6, they also announced that a Closed Beta Test will take place from Oct. 7-10, 2022. This Beta will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S with cross-play enabled. The Closed Beta Test will include Ranked Match, Casual Match, Battle Hub Match, Open Tournament, Extreme Battle, Game Center, and Training Mode, along with eight playable characters.

RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE and More

Sharing very similar news as they did during the Nintendo Direct last week, but this time focused on all platforms.

For starters, the DLC for Resident Evil Village called Winters’ Expansion will officially launch on October 28th for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia. For those that are still looking into getting the base game, that same day they will release the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which includes both the base game and the expansion DLC.

To provide something new for fans, they did share a new trailer that showed off some of the aspects coming from the DLC. For instance, check out Ethan Winters’ new animations from the highly requested “Third Person Mode.” The video also delved into the twisted realm within the mind of the Megamycete, providing a fresh look at the terrors lurking in “Shadows of Rose.” More details on the DLC can be found here.

After that, they re-iterated that Resident Evil Village will be coming to Mac and Nintendo Switch this year, along with a few other Resident Evil titles that are getting a cloud version. But to close it out, they confirmed that a Resident Evil 4 Remake is in the works for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC! However, details on this title will be revealed during the Resident Evil showcase in October 2022.

MONSTER HUNTER RISE: SUNBREAK - Update 2

In a new trailer, they show the rising threats facing Elgado Outpost, and the new tools at hunters’ disposal. The previously announced return of Flaming Espinas from Monster Hunter Frontier sets the stage for another blazing beast’s reveal: Violet Mizutsune. This creature’s alluring bubbles are actually filled with a highly combustible gas that can turn any graceful movement into an inferno of white-hot flame. Finally, an Elder Dragon capable of overcoming the affliction has been sighted.

Additionally, a new tier of Anomaly Quests will be added, and will include challenging targets like Gore Magala and Espinas. Anomaly Investigations are also being expanded, with an increased level cap of 120, and new afflicted materials. Hunters crafty enough to survive the challenge will be able to unlock new options for Qurious Crafting, including added Anomaly Slots and other new upgrades for weapons and the introduction of layered weapons.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is set to have Update 2 released on September 29th. From there, new Event Quests will continue to arrive every week, and A-List Hunters eager for even more challenges can look forward to future title updates, as new monsters and more are just around the corner with Title Update 3 launching in late November.

EXOPRIMAL

After holding a short closed beta experience for a handful of players to get a first impression of the game, they brought a trailer with exciting new story and gameplay details about the upcoming team-based action game. In the trailer, they revealed two new dinosaurs: the venom-spitting dilophosaurus and the carnotaurus, a massive beast that charges headlong into melee with its brutal horns.

Players will take on these threats with a range of cutting-edge combat armor. This advanced arsenal includes a pair of newly-revealed Exosuits. Players can tailor-make their Exosuits with a myriad of weapon and suit skins, decals, charms, and more. A variety of emote choices offer ways to interact with teammates. There is even gear to enhance Exosuit performance. Modules grant bonuses like faster reload speeds, and Rigs arm players with extra abilities, such as the new Blade Rig with its paralyzing electromagnetic shuriken. Customization options even extend to the main protagonist, Ace, who can be fully personalized with the character creator.

Ace’s story begins in 2043, after dinosaur outbreaks engulf the globe. The transport plane carrying their Exofighter unit, the Hammerheads, crash-lands on Bikitoa Island. There, they are forced to compete against hordes of dinosaurs and squads of fellow Exofighters in wargames hosted by the A.I. Leviathan. Not everyone on the island is necessarily an enemy, though. The Hammerheads receive help from a pilot known as Magnum, who shares his knowledge about the deadly situation they find themselves in. Perhaps by working together they can find a way to survive and escape.

Exoprimal is set to launch sometime in 2023 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

MEGA MAN BATTLE NETWORK LEGACY COLLECTION

Ending off their showcase, they revealed some new information regarding their legacy collection.

A voiced 3D version of Mega Man.EXE will be your personal Navi on the title select screen, and it will behave similar to the PET Screen from the series with various reactions based upon your play and control style. Additionally, Director Masakazu Eguchi (known to long-time fans as Mr. Famous) took to the stage to announce that online features, including online battle and chip trading for each title in the series, are in development.
