MEDIEVAL DYNASTY NEW SETTLEMENT VR Review: A Whole Life Simulator

Gameplay

Medieval Dynasty New Settlement, a VR sequel to its flatscreen predecessor Medieval Dynasty, retains the core concept of building your own medieval village and completing quests. I must admit, it's one of the most immersive VR games I've experienced. The level of interactivity adds a whole new layer of immersion that truly enhances the gameplay experience.

Embarking on your journey with nothing but determination, you stumble upon a quaint, humble village. Here begins your adventure, where you find yourself assisting the village Mayor with various tasks, gradually honing your skills and acquiring valuable knowledge. Alongside these endeavors, you tirelessly gather essential supplies, paving the way to construct not just a home but a thriving community of your own. Through each errand and every lesson learned, your path unfolds, promising growth, challenges, and the fulfillment of creating something truly remarkable from the ground up.

While the game's mechanics could benefit from more thorough explanations, overall, it presents a straightforward experience. Any uncertainties you encounter can easily be resolved by referring to the comprehensive guide at your disposal. This resource not only clarifies gameplay intricacies but also serves as a valuable companion, enhancing your understanding and enjoyment of the game.

Graphics and Audio

The game doesn’t have the best graphics but for what it is on the Quest they convey enough realism to keep it immersive. But where New Settlement excels is the game audio, everything is so relaxing you can really lose yourself playing this game.

Feedback

A lot of the mechanics in the game go unexplained and you have to either figure it out through trial an error. While you do have a guide on your wrist that you can read through to assist you, a lot of the time I’m not thinking about that guide at every second so it can get a little frustrating, mainly when it’s a hindrance to the quest you’re trying to complete.

I also noticed a few dead spots on the map, or at least that’s what I called them, if you threw an item like a spear it would kind of just disappear into the void.

Verdict

Medieval Dynasty New Settlement does exactly what VR games are supposed to do. It immerses you into a world that truly feels like a simulation that you can just get absolutely lost in. While there are some bugs that need fixing the concept of the game is perfect for VR. Especially for the price I think this game is well worth the purchase.
