More Than 10 Million Watch OVERWATCH League's Opening Week

Last week, Blizzard launched Overwatch League, the worlds first major global city-based professional esports league. Over the last week, with the help of Twitch, Overwatch League amassed a staggering 408,000 viewers per minute and 280,000 for the week. In total, more than 10 Million tuned in to watch the action as 12 different teams battled it out and that doesn't even count the huge amounts of 'watch parties' world wide who were in attendance.

"We're thrilled by the overwhelming response to the Overwatch League's opening week of play," But this is only the beginning. With more than 35 million Overwatch® players, the Overwatch League has the potential to become one of the most-watched leagues—of any kind—in the world." - Pete Vlastelica, president and CEO of Major League Gaming (MLG).
"Since we announced Overwatch League at BlizzCon 2016, we've been eagerly awaiting the day when the global competitive Overwatch community could come together under one banner, Opening week was that coming-out party—for the fans, both in-person at Blizzard Arena Los Angeles and tuned in by the millions all over the world, and for the players, whose love for the game came through crystal clear." " -Nate Nanzer, Overwatch League commissioner. "

It's clear that Overwatch has created a league of it's own. Time will tell if it becomes as big as some of the top esports in the world like DOTA or League of Legends. I would be really interested in seeing Madison Square Garden filled to capacity with people watching Overwatch.

If your interested in watching the action there are several ways you can do it. You can watch it on Twitch, MLG.com, Overwatchleague.com, the overwatch companion app, or in Overwatch the game.
