New CALL OF DUTY: WWII Update Had Adverse Server Effects for PS4 and XBO

It is with no surprise that Activision's latest warfare shooter, Call of Duty: WWII is doing extremely well. There have been reports of massive sales within the first week, but almost just as significant were the number of complaints. At the fore of these complaints were the major server issues being experienced for multiplayer.

Activision had stepped up last week and released a new update to solve as many of these issues as possible. Developer Sledgehammer had indicated that the update assisted with connectivity issues, while improving stability and fixing some bugs. Weapons had also received some modifications: The Walther toggle action shotgun, Bren LMG, and LMG bipod had all been upgraded, while the BAR, STG44, FG42, and machine pistol had all been downgraded.

This download was quite big at 1.1 GB, while there were indications of further updates and a PC patch that may have hit you already. It seemed like it was all systems go.

Sledgehammer have come forward and admitted that things may have gone worse. The update had a major adverse effect on server performance, causing the developer to drop the servers and change to P2P. This solved the problem for now, but players may experience constant host migration during play. From personal experience with F1 2017, I know just how frustrating this can be.

Sledgehammer are busy with testing though.

This level of data and diagnostics is helping us work toward a permanent solution as quickly as possible. We've begun to test dedicated servers today in the US. We'll watch this test closely, and once we analyze the results we'll look to expand.

With regards to constantly being disconnected, Sledgehammer have found the problem and you may soon get a patch on your console to resolve it. There is also a major PC patch coming, but Sledgehammer are committed to solving these server issues before that is even released.

All of this just makes me wish there was a new Medal of Honor title coming, as that was my favorite. I just hope COD players have the patience to wait for these problems to be resolved. Have you been experiencing these glitches? How has it affected your gameplay and enjoyability of the game? Let me know in the comments.
