RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 Is Stunning On PC - Tweak Guide Inside

Drop Dead Gorgeous

RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 was no slouch on a console when it released in 2018 yet now we have the true version (PC master race) of what the game was truly meant to look like, control like, and feel like. Even though I enjoyed hours of the game on my PS4 Pro last year, the 30 frames per second limit and sometimes wonky controls held it back a little. All screenshots were captured in-game and untouched with the settings listed below. Feel free to click on them to see the larger more detailed version and feel free to download for wallpaper or whatever suits you. Most of the screenshots were captured using the Photo Mode in-game (F6) but some were captured while playing with the radar turned off (Left Alt)

Troubleshooting Launch Issues

  • Be sure to update to the latest graphics drivers

  • Completely restart your Rockstar Games Launcher and/or Epic Games Launcher as several updates have been applied since launch

  • Update to your system BIOS to the latest release

  • Some systems are crashing on DirectX 12 on the graphics API setting, so leave or switch to Vulkan

  • Delete ALL files under My Documents\Rockstar Games\ to completely reset all Rockstar Launcher and Game/Graphics settings. I had to do this personally and reset back to Vulkan for the game to launch properly

Screenshot Capture Settings

  • All settings setting to Ultra except Tessellation and Fur Quality to Medium

  • Reflection MSAA and Motion Blur to Off

  • Be sure to only have TAA to medium with sharpening set to max if you want AA, otherwise, all off

  • Tweak shadow settings first if your performance is too low

  • You can use the render resolution to either scale down (0.75) or up (1.5x) to run at your native resolution but render higher or lower

  • Be sure to have MSAA OFF as it is a huge performance killer
