Patriot is known for the memory but did you know they make an affordable and competitive gaming mouse? I was given a chance to check out their new Viper V560 Laser Gaming Mouse. The new Viper Gaming line from Patriot will not disappoint.

SPECS AND SPECIAL FEATURES

Features

  • Xtreme Precision Laser Lens
  • Up to 12,000 DPI
  • DPI LED Indicator
  • Customizable LED colors
  • 5 Customizable Profiles
  • 9 Programmable keys
  • Ceramic foot pads for maximum performance
  • Adjustable weight of up to 29.4g

Patriot's new Viper V560 Laser Gaming Mouse is a very customizable mouse, it comes with up to 29.4g of adjustable weight for those who like a heavier feel to mice which puts the mouse to about 262g of total weight. It also comes with an exchangeable grip that allows a place for your ring finger and pinky to rest or the traditional grip.

The mouse also comes with nine programmable buttons and 5 on-board profiles that can be easily switched during gaming sessions. The different profiles are identified by a colored LED that is visible on the front of the mouse. There's also a DPI toggle switch that will allow you to cycle between four DPI presets which is also identified by an LED indicator at the front of the mouse so you are able to see which DPI setting you are currently on.

With the combination of the ceramic foot-pads and 12,000 DPI optical sensor, it allows for a lot of accuracy when playing an FPS game like Overwatch or speed when playing a MOBA like Dota 2. The software of peripherals is an often overlooked feature that comes with peripherals. Viper did a great job with creating an intuitive and easy software for customizing the mouse to fit your needs.

AESTHETICS AND BUILD QUALITY

The Patriot V560 Gaming Mouse not only functions good but also looks good. The changing LEDs under the mouse adds some character without being too distracting. Overall the build quality is very solid and comfortable. The only concern I have is the mouse wheel and how many cycles it could potentially go through before failing as it feels very loose already as it is.

WHAT IT COULD DO BETTER

After a few hours of playing Overwatch and Dota 2 on this mouse, my only suggestion is to have exchangeable feet for those who are using a hard mousepad. This mouse moves too fast/slick on a hard mouse pad but moves very well on a cloth mouse pad.

VERDICT

It is hard to find a mouse with a better value than what Patriot has offered here for $39.99. If you're looking for a new gaming mouse I would recommend giving this mouse a shot.
