Sony Finally Reveals THE LAST OF US PART I Remake Gameplay In Official Featurette

PlayStation surprised everyone last night with a 10-minute video feature on one of their most anticipated titles to come out this year. We finally got a decent look at gameplay for The Last Of Us Part I and a summary of the new changes we can expect to see once the game launches in September.

Shortly after leaked gameplay footage littered the internet, The Last Of Us Part I dropped an official look at the game. The video shows off various moments throughout the game, showcasing the visual fidelity the remake entails. Character models and cutscenes are fully rendered with a seamless transition, making the game feel much more fluid. Facial animations have also received a big upgrade and more closely resemble the original actors' performances, bringing new emotional weight to the story. You can check out all the new features in the video below.

Gamers can also expect to see new additions such as gameplay modifiers, new render modes, a revamped photo mode, a permadeath mode, and a speedrun mode. All of which are welcome additions to this classic title and will please fans of TLOU2. Also carrying over from TLOU2 are the improved accessibility features. The remake will now feature full descriptive audio and a host full of other accessible features to make this title enjoyable for everyone.

Although there was a huge emphasis on the game's graphics, there wasn't much to highlight on the actual gameplay mechanics. With the exception of an AI overhaul, which essentially has taken aspects from TLOU2 and implemented it into the remake, the game will play the same as the original. This may sound a bit disappointing for some, there are still a lot of upgraded changes here to make the biggest TLOU fan happy. The video ends with Neil Druckmann stating “...Everything that allows us to make that experience better- not different - extremely better. That’s why, to me, this is the definitive way to play The Last Of Us.”

There is big indication here that the game will play nearly identical to its predecessor, which may or may not concern some. We will have to wait and see when the game fully launches for PlayStation 5 on September 2nd and soon after for PC.
