SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES Is Confirmed To Have A Performance Mode Running At 4K/60 FPS

Revealing Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a new adventure from Insomniac Games coming to PlayStation 5.

As excitement for PS5 grows there is one thing that has gnawed at some players and a number of fanboys on both sides of the console aisle, many of the stellar games shown off were confirmed to only run at 30 FPS. In today’s gaming landscape you would almost think you had stabbed someone with a knife if you utter the phrase 30 FPS. To some, the lower framerate correlates into unplayable territory while others of us out here still regularly play sub 20 FPS retro games!

Regardless of how you feel about the framerate, potential PS5 adopters will be happy to know that at least one game previously confirmed for the 30 FPS territory is getting a 60 FPS performance mode! Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a standalone side-story following PS4’s Spider-Man, is the game in question and definitely the title that could benefit most from the higher framerate. Insomniac took to Twitter today to share the news.

Now it is worth noting that no information has been given about the visual sacrifices needed to achieve the 60 FPS mark. Will it be lower resolution while being upsampled to 4K? Will it be reduced lighting? Lower draw distances? Who knows… As we get closer to PS5’s launch I expect we may learn more, but until then I am happy for all of you out there who will be all over this mode!
