Last year we were given the first trailers showing off that the psychological horror game from PLAYMIND called The Inner Friend was coming to console, but we now have an official release date! This journey through a fragmented dreamscape will be on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 28th. It originally launched on Steam back in 2018 and has won a series of awards at conventions and independent gaming festivals including Best in Play at GDC Play 2019, Best Experimental Game at TGS 2018, and Best in Show at the Montreal Indie Games Festival 2017.
This game was originally made as a soul-searching experiment and will have players led through the dreamscape by a mysterious Shadow. As the Shadow takes the player’s through the darkness of its mind and memories, the player must evade and fight them while dealing with obstacles and puzzles. This time, players won’t just be given a direct path as there is an all-new alternate ending they could get. This isn’t a console exclusive addition though and players on Steam can also find this new ending with the new update to the game on Steam.
