It has just been announced by Bandai Namco, together with CD Projekt Red, that The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia, will be a playable character in SoulCalibur VI. Moreover, a stage, which is based on The Witcher’s Kaer Morhen, will also be available as one of the arenas in the game.
Furthermore, Doug Cockle, will reprise the voice of the Witcher, and will keep his signature fighting style and arsenal of signs including the fire spell Igni and the spell Aard. Geralt will also be able to utilize a “combination of swordplay, ability-enhancing potions, and combat magic,” revealed by the developers. In addition, CD Projekt Red’s community lead, Marcin Momot said that,
“We’ve collaborated with Bandai Namco artists to faithfully recreate Geralt, and shared original Witcher 3: Wild Hunt assets like Geralt’s model, animations, and weapons. I think Bandai Namco did an outstanding job of capturing all the details and introducing The Witcher to SoulCalibur in a way fans of both series will enjoy.”
Of course, any fan of the Witcher series would prefer to see Geralt on a new game of his own, instead of making small cameos in other games. However, given that CD Projekt is busy at the moment developing another game, it would probably be a long time before we see Geralt back in action if CD Projekt Red decides to create another Witcher game in the future.
SoulCalibur VI is slated for a release this year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. What do you think about Geralt’s appearance in SoulCalibur VI? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
