When I first saw that Tony' Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 were being combined and remastered into one complete package, I was extremely hesitant. After spending so many hours in the original games on multiple platforms, absolutely loving every moment, I wasn’t sure if the magic could be recreated. What is they tried to tweak the gameplay and dumb it down to some modern standard? What if the controls and feel of skating through those insane levels? Lastly, what about the stellar soundtracks that are still stuck in my head 20 years later? I am pleased to report, all of these items and more are near perfect in this release, especially on PC.
Controls are completely tweakable with keyboard or controllers. Graphic options are varied and complete. The graphics, sound, soundtrack are all absolutely fantastic. I just can’t say enough about the care and love Vicarious Visions put into this stunning game and at a price point of just $39.99, it’s more than fair for what you get. Whether you are a massive fan of the original series or newcomer, you’re gonna love it!
The care, detail, and respect to the original games is definitely apparent and it’s the perfect mix of old school gameplay with modern graphics and polish. I applaud all who were involved in this project and make sure the original feel and flow were respected.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 launched today and is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In an age of varying degrees of quality with remasters, this is definitely one of the best.
