Top 5 Tips and Tricks for New Players in LOST ARK

The highly anticipated MMORPG/ARPG LOST ARK launched this weekend and the stats alone couldn’t be more impressive. Quickly jumping to the number one played game on Steam, it’s off to an amazing start for the English premier of the beloved game already available in Asia and Russia. Now, while the beginning Prologue and tutorials definitely help steer new players in the right direction, here are five tips and tricks for said players wanting to make the most of their starting hours in their Lost Ark journey.

Every Class Has a Trial Mode

In some MMORPGs and ARPGs, you select a class and have to spend days, weeks, or even months truly testing a single class out to their true playstyles. This is definitely not the case with Lost Ark as you can try out each class and sub-class before even locking in. So before you lock in, check ‘em all out. You may be surprised on how good each class truly can be.

Do Not Skip The Prologue On Your First Character

When I first played on the test servers months ago, I’d skip the Prologue on every character I created because I just wanted to jump straight into the action. Big mistake. Not only is the Prologue act as a great tutorial, the story present in that section is absolutely crucial in context of the whole game. Not to mention, you get your first, sweet piece of cosmetic gear. Trust me, just do it.

Explore Every Inch of the Map

Even though taking a peek at the maps in Lost Ark make it look like everything is linear and set in stone, I can’t stress this enough: It’s not. There are secret dungeons, goodies, and side areas that you may completely miss if you don’t explore every square inch of each map and main dungeons.

The Best Starting Dungeon is Completely Optional

Not sure why but the best starting dungeon in the game, Aquilok’s Head, is completely optional. Not only does it have some awesome loot, but the graphics and atmosphere are also awesome, the story is vital to the whole area, and there are some great collectibles present. You can find it in the upper right corner of the map in the Ankumo Mountain area. Don’t miss it.

The First Real Boss With Stellar Loot is Easy to Miss

If you are trying to complete your Adventure Guide entries on your first continent, you may notice there is a boss named Rudric listed. Even though you may randomly run into him, the story and tutorial will not guide you to him. You DO NOT want to miss this fight! You can find him near the southern tip of the Graveyard at the Rethramis Border. If you do not see him, switch Channels in the upper right corner of your screen and get ready for a massive, epic fight with some sweet loot!
