On Sunday, League of Legends teams from around the world will vie for dominance at the Twitch Rivals: League of Legends TwitchCon Europe Showdown. The event will go down live at TwitchCon Europe in Berlin.
The Twitch Prime-sponsored event is split into two parts: the Country Showdown and the All-Star Showdown. The Country Showdown marks the culmination of the online Twitch Rivals: Road to TwitchCon tournament, and offers the four participating teams $75,000 in prizes, with a $35,000 grand prize going to the champions. On the other hand, the winners of the All-Star Showdown—a battle between teams of streamers representing Europe and North America—will award $20,000 to the winners and $5,000 to the losers.
The Country Showdown features teams from Spain, Germany, Italy, and France. Most of the players involved are more well-known for their streaming exploits than their competitive careers, but a number of them have competed in smaller European leagues. Of the players in attendance, Zhou “XoYnUzi” En-Qiang has come closest to the big leagues; he played for Fnatic’s academy team in 2015 and remains a streamer for the organization.
The talent pool of the All-Star Showdown is similar, with the notable exception of North America’s Christian “IWDominate” Rivera, formerly a League of Legends Championship Series competitor for Team Liquid.
