What's With The Intellivison Amico “Drama Cult” Discussion?

If you ever want drama, just search Twitter or YouTube for “Intellivison Amico” and look at the drastically different takes. Personally, I am excited about the console. I grew up with the original, which I still own. I spent quality time with my parents and late grandparents playing games that are being “retro reimagined.”

Tommy Tallarico is a fixture in the video game industry. I doubt he would tie himself to something that would not succeed. The man came from humble beginnings to become one of the most well-known names in the industry.

I have long been a proponent of the console. I look forward to playing the games with my kids, wife, and extended family. The console is not for everyone and that is okay. These days, you will find two distinct camps: those who love the Amico, despite never seeing it, and those who hate the Amico, despite never seeing it. The drama has reached large and small YouTube channels as well as people on social media with various levels of followings. Those who hate the Amico refer to the other side as a “cult.” It’s not a cult. It is merely people who are genuinely excited about the promises made by Intellivision Entertainment.

I do not pretend to be Nostradamus, but I am reasonably certain that the console will succeed. One of those reasons is with the backing of Tommy Tallarico. I am largely focused on the “Retro Reimagined” line of games. As a long-time Intellivision player, Astrosmash, Shark Shark!, Night Stalker, and a host of other games are titles I look forward to seeing revitalized.
