Pleasing the WoW Masses

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic launches sooner that most expected as some leaks pointed towards June 1 but more of the opinion it would launch closer to July. Love it or hate it, both WoW retail and WoW Classic still have a massive draw. Personally, I loved the original TBC era and have many fond memories with friends and family playing the game way too much.

In an age where you will never please everyone, there is a pre-patch coming May 18 that allows you to start leveling Blood Elves and Draenei BEFORE the actual June 1 launch of the Classic expansion. Also, after pre-patch, you will need to decide whether to keep your characters in a Classic only realm or choose to move forward with TBC Classic content. You can pay a one time $35 fee, per character to have a copy in both Classic and TBC Classic realms. Apart from that, a Dark Portal Pass and Deluxe Editions are available and detailed as follows:

Deluxe Edition - $69.99

  • The Reawakened Phase-Hunter mount, a creature that draws on the otherworldly energies that transformed Draenor into Outland, for use only in Burning Crusade Classic and designed to match the look of the original expansion

  • The Viridian Phase-Hunter mount, a variant for use in modern World of Warcraft (including Shadowlands) and reflecting the game’s current visual style

  • A Dark Portal Hearthstone for use in Burning Crusade Classic, providing a unique visual effect inspired by the gateway between worlds

  • The Path of Illidan toy for Burning Crusade Classic, which causes your character’s footsteps to leave flickering fel fire in their wake for a short time

  • The Dark Portal Pass, which boosts one character to level 58 (same restrictions as standalone Dark Portal Pass apply; cannot be combined with standalone Dark Portal Pass purchase)

  • 30 days of World of Warcraft game time, providing access to WoW Classic, Burning Crusade Classic, and the modern game

Dark Portal Pass - $39.99

  • Apprentice Riding skill

  • Race-specific mount

  • Weapon skills up to level 58

  • Access to certain flight paths

  • A set of level 58 magic (green) quality gear

  • Up to four Runecloth Bags (14 slots each)

  • A little bit of gold to start their journey

Phew. I think that about covers it and what strange times we live in where relaunching 10+ year old games can cause such excitement and contention all at once. I for one, am stoked to relive the near-pinnacle of WoW goodness.
