Hardcore servers have arrived on Battlefield 1. According to a blog post, the mode has the typical features. That is to say, players will not have a mini-map, crosshair, or the ability to spot enemies as easily as you would on the traditional mode.
In addition to "Hardcore" players will also have access to a new mode called "Rent-A-Server". With this mode, players will pay money to own a private server in which they control the game modes and map rotations. The pricing is not cheap according to PC Gamer...
PC
- 1 day: $2.99
- 7 days: $11.99
- 30 days: $42.99
- 90 days: $99.99
- 180 days: $149.99
PlayStation 4/Xbox One
- 1 day: $1.99
- 7 days: $7.99
- 30 days: $26.99
- 90 days: $64.99
- 180 days: $99.99
I'm guessing the 90 and 180 day options are more for the amateur eSports organizations? I can't imagine anyone paying $100 just for a server they can control for their friends...but maybe I'm underestimating the need. Personally, I think it's a bit greasy for EA to offer it to begin with if they are gonna charge out the ass for it!
Both modes should be live across all platforms, do you see yourself getting a private server or playing Hardcore?
