Most recently, developer Insomniac Games was proud to announce that the upcoming Spider-Man game for the PlayStation 4 has finally gone gold, which means that the game has been completed and will be sent to manufacturers to be made into discs. As the release date is now only a month away, Insomniac unveiled a brand new 4K gameplay footage of Spider-Man complete with a commentary from the game's Creative Director, Brian Intihar.
The latest footage revealed more gameplay from the first few hours of Spider-Man as the titular character is tasked to defeat the Inner Demons via a stealth approach in the preview. A lot of the moves shown in the latest footage is somewhat similar to the combat system found in Rocksteady Studios’ Batman Arkham series. However, Spider-Man used his Web Shooters to distract enemy soldiers before stinging them up or knocking them down with objects in the environment.
The video also discussed details on the game’s combat system and how Insomniac made Spider-Man more versatile, allowing players to switch strategies in the middle of combat. Intihar confirmed that in the story, Peter Parker has been working as Spider-Man for about eight years, making his skills and abilities more formidable than ever.
Lastly, the latest preview concluded with a boss battle between Spidey and Wilson “Kingpin Fisk" and ended with a cutscene of Peter and Aunt May working together at one of Martin “Mister Negative” Li’s shelters. Based on what was shown thus far, it is not surprising that Spider-Man for the PS4 is one of the most highly-anticipated titles to come out this year. This game will surely top sales charts once it's released this fall.
