There is big news from Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Games! Max Payne, a series many gamers and critics swooned over upon its initial release, will be getting a remake. Remedy Entertainment has announced that Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne remakes will be funded by Rockstar Games, assuring a AAA budget.
Max Payne is a third-person shooter famous for its Neo-Noir setting and of course the groundbreaking “Bullet Time” feature, which surely players are curious and eager to see how the folks at Remedy can improve upon it with current hardware.
Remedy has had a heavy focus on gunplay in this series, and rightfully so considering how fun they’ve made the shootouts in these games. They will be using their Northlight game engine, the same engine used to make CONTROL. It should be fun to see Northlight power the action of firefights and hopefully some added melee mechanics.
Since the games are in such early development, gamers may have a while to wait, but the good news is both remakes for Max Payne and Max Payne 2 will have a single release. The games will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can check out the full announcement blog here.
