Story and Gameplay
Donkey Kong Bananza doesn’t waste time trying to reinvent the jungle—it just hands you a pair of oversized ape fists and says, “Go nuts.” And go nuts you shall. The gameplay is gloriously simple: smash, stomp, and ground-pound every square inch of your environment into banana mush. But behind the chaos is a surprisingly deep system of combos, environment interactions, and hidden paths that make each level feel like a sandbox of destruction. The story? Well, it exists—but let’s be honest, you’re not here for Shakespeare. You’re here to falcon punch a vending machine into a lava pit while yelling "BANANZA!" And honestly? That’s all the narrative punch you’ll ever need.
The game is just a blast to play and a showcase for what the Nintendo Switch 2 is capable of. This is good ol’ fashioned Nintendo fun at its finest.
Graphics and Sound
Donkey Kong Bananza is a visual slap. This is Nintendo saying, “Yeah, the Switch 2 has muscles now.” The lighting is lush, the fur tech is so realistic you’ll want to reach through the screen and brush DK’s coat, and the destructible environments are almost hilariously over-the-top. One minute you’re in a deep, dark cave, the next you’ve punched a smoothie stand into orbit. Sound-wise, it’s a tropical treat—every slam, crash, and banana bonk is punchy and satisfying. The soundtrack is a fun little masterpiece, complete with remixed DK classics and percussion-heavy bangers that make every stomp feel like it deserves its own slow-mo replay.
Feedback and Verdict
This is what gaming is all about. DK Bananza is fun, beautiful to look at and if you don’t have a smile after each play session, your soul may just be a little dead. The Switch 2 killer app is here folks and we are all for it. The future of Switch 2 is so bright, we all better wear shades.
Whether young, old, Nintendo fanatic or hater, there is something for everyone to love in this newly-minted-masterpiece.
