One of the most recognizable extraction-based games, Escape From Tarkov from Battlestate Games has released its 0.13 update, with a load of new features, changes, and a long-awaited map! Along with this update comes the semi-annual progression wipe that has the whole community starting again from square one.
The most exciting part of this update is, of course, the long-awaited Streets of Tarkov. A map based in downtown Tarkov that promises to be one of the largest in Escape From Tarkov so far. This release is not the entire map, just the first iteration with plans to be expanded. This map features many streets and buildings, with plenty of internal and external spaces to promise firefights from many angles. Additionally, the update adds new stims, new weapons, and a 40mm under-barrel grenade launcher. The other new feature is the enhancements on weapons and armor, tied directly to the player’s weapon maintenance and the new light/heavy armor skills.
Of course, these additions are supported by new bug fixes, quest and mechanic changes, and other fun stuff. A new audio system brings (hopeful) improvements to enemy locating, as well as binaural directional support. Check out the full list of changes here.
While Escape From Tarkov is still in a long-term beta test, it is also one of the top-viewed games on Twitch and every wipe players flock back to the game. Personally, I spent almost 200 hours playing the last wipe, and am definitely looking forward to checking out the new additions and losing all of my stuff in exciting and deadly raids.
Escape From Tarkov is currently available on PC Beta via Battlestate Games website. Check out the update trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
