ETRIAN ODYSSEY X Is The Final Brand-New Title for the 3DS
Developer Atlus has just announced via a trailer, posted above, that the dungeon crawler franchise, Etrian Odyssey, will be making its final brand-new appearance on the Nintendo 3DS soon. The series has been able to produce five main entries in the last decade and will be joined by Etrian Odyssey X, the sixth main game in the franchise.
The game will be heading to the 3DS on August 2 of this year, and Atlus revealed that not only will the game be a “crossover of the entire series,” but it will also be the “last brand-new Etrian title” for the 3DS. The game will combine several features of its predecessors that includes character creation, subclasses, and the ease of switching the game's difficulty.
As Etrian Odyssey X will be the final entry in the 3DS, Yo-Kai Watch 4 was confirmed for the Nintendo Switch, which marks the beginning of a new chapter for Atlus, who is transitioning to Nintendo’s hybrid console. The implication that Odyssey X will serve as the “last brand new” title signals that Atlus will probably introduce remakes of older titles as they shift their focus on the Nintendo Switch.
