Ergonomics is extremely important when it comes to being successful and comfortable in your daily work area. It’s not enough to feel good though, it also has to look stylish to fit correctly in your workspace or home. Luckily, FlexiSpot has created a great standing desk that perfectly implements ergonomics while still being the perfect desk that caters to a work/life balance. While there may have been a couple of hiccups along the way and I do have a caveat or two, I can say that the Adjustable Standing Desk Pro Series is definitely worth your interest if you’re in the market to upgrade your space.

What's In The Box(s)

Each of these standing desks is shipped in two boxes. One contains the desktop surface and the other includes the legs, cables, screws, hex key, and a bundle of cable management ties. It was nice to see that there wouldn’t be too much that had to be done. Most things like this make me a little eager because there’s so much left for the consumer to do in order to get it all set up. I was surprised that it really doesn’t take this thing too long to get put together.

As long as you follow the instructions to the letter and make sure everything is lined up perfectly, construction time does pretty much add up to the 10 minutes advertised. I did actually have to take this thing apart twice but I’ll get into that down the line. Due to how heavy the frame is and potentially the desktop depending on the length, you’ll want a second pair of hands to help you. I’m someone that loves Ikea for the easiness that comes with putting their furniture together but I have to say, FlexiSpot is right there with them with this. It’s superb!

Aesthetics & Build Quality

When it came to choosing what I wanted my desk to look like, I was actually dumbfounded. FlexiSpot has a lot of choices when it comes to not only the finish of the desktop and its size but its metal legs as well. I went with the Marble Grey top and Grey legs to match. As you can see in the above pick, the tabletop is extremely pretty and works fantastically in my personal workspace. The finish is waterproof, scratch-proof, moisture-proof, and insect-resistant. Being that I share this workspace with my wife, we both may leave a mess or two behind but luckily, this thing wipes off extremely easily. All you really need is a wipe or damp cloth and anything comes right off.

The desk is made out of chipboard and is very durable. I will say that when this thing gets to its fully adjusted height which is about 47.4” inches, it can get a bit wobbly. This doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the actual top or even the bottom part of the legs. It seems that the extenders that come out of the legs that move it upwards are just not fully stable. I don’t see this as a hazard but it could get annoying for folks that may be drawing or writing at such a height. I’m 5’11 so I wouldn’t use it at that length, but it’s definitely worth noting.

Specs & Features

The meat and potatoes of the Adjustable Standing Desk Pro Series lie with its leg selection. The legs I was given are the EC3s and here are the features:

  • 220 lbs lb lifting capacity (not including desktop weight)

  • 43.4" - 66.9" adjustable width

  • 27.2" - 46.5" adjustable height without desktop. (Please note the thickness (1'') of the desktop will be added into the height range shown in the keypad display. )

  • Dual motor design for higher weight capacity and quicker lift speed

  • Industry-leading warranty: 5 years for the frame, motor, and other mechanisms, and 2 years for the controller and switch, electronics

  • Whisper quiet: Operating noise less than 50dB

  • Applied Desktop Size:47.2"-78.7" wide

Within its control system, you are given an LED display, up button, down button, memory presets, and a sit/stand reminder. First off, having the ability to save 3 different presets really comes in handy as in my case, the desk is used by more than one person. I’m substantially taller than my wife so these functions are highly appreciated. The sit/stand reminder is really cool as well and can be adjusted to whatever time you’d like and it counts down from there.

Functionality

I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t think a standing desk is cool or fun to play with. I haven’t ever used one so I was skeptical at how much it would really help me out. Once I got my hands on it though, I couldn’t get enough of it. It’s so versatile when it comes to what I need out of my workspace. Gaming, writing, sewing, drawing, or just surfing the web can be even better when you get on your feet. The circulation is better, and you can even burn some calories. What’s better than gaming and losing some lbs?

When talking about the technicals of the desk itself, the fact that this raises and lowers so quickly is just amazing. It’s so steady that everything on top of it barely even jiggles. At its lowest height, the LED reader indicated 28.1” inches and as stated before, its highest was 47.4” inches. Shorter folks and taller ones shouldn’t have any difficulty finding a comfortable height.

One thing that I find important for me was having it be quiet when adjusting and I’m happy to say that it is. I do most of my writing at night so the fact that this is quiet really made me ecstatic. It’s not silent but it’s quiet enough where it wouldn’t wake anyone in the room with me. That’s a win for me.

What It Could Have Done Better

Unfortunately, there are a couple of things that negatively impacted my experience a bit and they’re things that would negatively affect a customer too. The very first desktop I received was actually damaged and chipped. FlexiSpot was nice enough to send out another top for me, however, they didn’t have my original specs in stock so I had to opt for a smaller version. It’s not a deal-breaker and in fact, the smaller one worked for my space better.

The other thing though is that while the second top that arrived is much better than the first, it also has some blemishes here and there. They’re minuscule but if you were spending over $300 on a desk I’m sure you’d expect it to look perfect. I think that FlexiSpot needs to implement more cushion in its packing and have more focused quality assurance to make sure the items they're sending are in the best condition.

Verdict

There’s no doubt that the Adjustable Standing Desk Pro Series has some truly awesome features and in most cases, went over my expectations. While being strictly cosmetic, there are some things that could potentially negativily impact you. I personally find the Adjustable Standing Desk Pro Series great though and the vast number of positives outweighed the negatives as far as I’m concerned. At the end of the day, it’s your choice if it works for you. I do think that this one should be on your list when choosing your next desk as it looks beautiful overall and operates fantastically.
