Lots of big news for fans of the Granblue Fantasy JRPG series from Cygames. Their upcoming game Granblue Fantasy: Relink just dropped a new trailer at the PlayStation Showcase along with announcing the addition of two new characters to the Granblue Fantasy: Relink roster.
For players unfamiliar with Granblue Fantasy: Relink, it is the upcoming game in the action JRPG series of Granblue Fantasy. Relink will focus on its co-op gameplay where up to four players can participate in quests and battles together. The new trailer that just dropped shows off how characters with different skills and weapons can synergize with each other. In Relink, every enemy and party formation has its own strengths and weaknesses, overcoming them and working together is how players will succeed.
The story of Relink takes place in the Sky Realm, a part of the world filled with floating islands. The game follows the journey of you the protagonist, accompanied by a lively dragon named Vyrn and a mysterious girl named Lyria, as they embark on a voyage to Estalucia, a legendary island that lies beyond the skies. Along their way, they encounter a diverse group of characters, including kings and outcasts, who join their eclectic crew. Within the Zegagrande Skydom, where the game's events unfold, primal beasts protect the islands, and rumors swirl about the enigmatic Church of Avia. As the story unfolds, the protagonists discover a complex web of intrigue that extends far beyond Zegagrande's borders, and they find themselves entangled in a battle that will determine the fate of the entire Sky Realm.
So far there have been 16 different characters announced for Relink’s upcoming roster, each with their own unique playstyle and controls. The two newest additions are Zeta, a firey blonde who dances around her foes, devastating them with the magical spear Arvess, and the hulking Vaseraga, a tank who charges the battlefield like a bull, mowing down foes with his Great Scythe Grynoth. If you’re a fan of the series you may be familiar with these two as they’re both playable in the fighting game Granblue Fantasy: Versus on PlayStation 4. There are still more characters and game features coming down the pipeline, so dedicated fans should pay close attention.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink will arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam sometime in Winter 2023.
