The long-running anime and manga One Piece is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and Bandai Namco is celebrating the occasion with One Piece: Odyssey, a new video game set in the fantastical, pirate-filled world. At the Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live presentation earlier this week, Bandai debuted a new trailer for the game that included new revelations about the game’s story and gameplay mechanics.
One Piece: Odyssey will feature an original story by the writer of the manga, Eiichiro Oda, that finds the Straw Hat pirates shipwrecked on the mysterious island of Waford, a land filled with new allies, powerful enemies, and dangerous secrets. To uncover all that Waford has to offer, players will explore the island’s tropical environments, discover hidden treasures, and engage monsters in turn-based battles as nine members of the legendary Straw Hat crew.
One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man with the power to stretch his body like rubber, as he seeks to become King of the Pirates by reaching the end of the Grand Line and finding Gol D. Roger’s legendary treasure, One Piece. Over their 25 years of existence, Luffy and his crew have become worldwide sensations, expanding beyond manga and anime into merchandise, films, and video games.
