Out Of The Blue has pulled back the curtain on their latest project: a platforming, puzzle-solving mystery adventure called American Arcadia. Geoff Keighley showed off the game’s debut trailer at this week’s Summer Game Fest 2022 presentation, revealing a title that blends 2.5D platforming with first-person puzzling solving.
American Arcadia revolves around the ‘70s-inspired, utopian city of Arcadia, which is actually the set of the world’s most popular television program. The catch is that the residents of Arcadia have no idea they’re on TV, nor do they realize that there are consequences for not being popular with the viewers. One such resident, a man named Trevor, finds himself in a mad dash for his life as he seeks to escape Arcadia with the help of a mysterious woman outside the city walls.
Players will take on a dual-protagonist role, playing as both Trevor and his enigmatic benefactor, but they each play very differently: Trevor sneaks around Arcadia on a 2.5D plane, while the woman hacks into security feeds and explores the internal offices of a shadowy corporation from a first-person perspective.
American Arcadia will launch on PC via Steam and console platforms. No official release date or window was given at the time of this writing.
