Konami Confirms Whether Hideo Kojima Is Involved With The MGS3 Remake

Konami has recently revealed its upcoming remake of MGS3 titled Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater and along with the announcement comes a flood of speculation. Some hopeful fans believe that the series creator, Hideo Kojima, could be involved as a consultant to oversee the project. This would come as a surprise to many since both Kojima and Konmai had a fallout a few years back during the development of MGSV. Some have recently spotted both Kojima and Konami following each other on Twitter again as of 2021, which could signify a rekindled relationship. However, it seems that we no longer need to speculate.

IGN had recently interviewed a Konami representative and asked a series of questions to clarify a few mysteries. One of which, is Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa involved in the development of MGS Delta: Snake Eater in any way. Unfortunately, the answer is a flat no. The two series staples are not involved and Konami is developing the game internally with the help of Virtuous. This is definitely a bit of sad news but it is nothing that anyone should be surprised about. Kojima left Konami to form his own independent studio, so it would seem like his Metal Gear days are over. However, never say never.

Even though MGSD: Snake Eater has just been announced, we have been receiving a steady stream of news about the title. Considering this is Konami’s first AAA title in years, there is a lot riding on this to be a banger hit. Metal Gear Solid is one of, if not the, biggest franchise in Konami’s library and some may say you can not spell Metal Gear without Kojima. Only time will tell how the game is received by the fans when it decides to fully launch.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
