METAL GEAR SOLID DELTA: SNAKE EATER Officially Announced And What The Title Change Means

Konami finally did it. They have come to their senses and decided to remake what is considered the best title in their largely beloved franchise. Rumored for years, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is officially getting a remake and launching on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC simultaneously. It was long rumored that it might have been a PlayStation exclusive but ultimately it was revealed at today's PlayStation Showcase. Intriguingly enough, the title of the remake is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The official Metal Gear Solid Twitter account confirmed that the developer chose “Delta” because the Greek letter represents “change” or “difference” without changing structure.

This is fantastic news since the original is considered a masterpiece in gaming history, created by the world-renowned Hideo Kojima. We were treated with a 2-minute teaser trailer that showcased the game's powerful new engine and referenced the “food chain” element that the game is structured on. Zipping through shots of ants, tree frogs, parrots, crocodiles, and snakes, and finally ending with the top of the food chain, Naked Snake. The trailer looks stunning but there were very few details shared about the game, including whether any of the game’s original voice actors will return for the remake.

The official website shows off some more of the game, displaying various areas found in the beginning moments of the title. If these are all in-engine screenshots then we should be in for a real graphical treat when it releases. Unfortunately, there has been no word of a release date but since the series has been dormant for over 8 years they really need to make this next entry incredible.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
