Monster Crown is a Pokémon-inspired video game developed by Studio Aurum and published by SOEDESCO. You have the ability to tame, breed, and fight your monsters in online battles or against other monsters on the island.
The game takes place on Crown Island, where you begin on your family farm where you learn how to tame and fight monsters. The story revolves around making impactful decisions as you uncover a nefarious plot. It has many dark elements to it which help it stand out from other games in its genre, and isn't afraid to show adult-themed elements.
Instead of capturing monsters or beating them into submission to get them under your control, you offer them a pact, You promise to feed and provide shelter for them and they promise to fight for you. The deciding factor is your monster's level compared to theirs.
Monsters can be found all over the island and you initiate combat by moving close to them. The combat screen is where you decide to fight or offer a pact. You can have 8 monsters with you at any one time, while the rest stay on the farm.
With over 200 unique monsters that can all be bred with each other (that's over 1200 crossbreed possibilities), you’ll be busy for countless hours trying to create the strongest and coolest crossbreeds. You can show off your monsters in online battles or trade them to see your species spread around the globe.
Monster Crown will be coming to both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on February 22nd. It is already available on PC and Nintendo Switch, as it was originally released last year. If you're interested in seeing if this game is right for you, check out our review!
