Universal Studios Fan Fest Nights was exciting this year, it exceeded my expectations (as you can read in my review). And so, hopefully Universal expands on this and turns it into another event that gets as hyped as HHN. So crossing my fingers, here’s what I hope to see at next years FFN:
More Harry Potter (Villains) (Walk-Through?)
Harry Potter is probably one of their most popular IPs so why not expand on it? What I’d like to see added from the Harry Potter universe is a celebration of the villains. Possibly have the Death Eaters walking around like they do during HHN, my though process is not to turn this into Horror Nights (hence why nothing on this list is horror) but I think that the Death Eaters is a nice touch for horror nights, but what about the die hard Harry Potter fans that can’t handle HHN? I think it would be fun to experience the iconic Harry Potter villains as character meet and greets and as a bonus I think they could absolutely create a stunning Harry Potter walk-through.
More D&D (Dragons) (Walk-Through)
I loved their D&D house this year, I think that D&D should make an appearance every year because it’s literally endless creativity. Pick any D&D story and they can turn it into a mini campaign. There are plenty of official one shots out there too use or they could even create their own original stories, I’d be more than happy with either.
But what I would like to see for next year is more dragons. We got an epic overhead of a dragon this year, but I would love a big badass Dragon animatronic like the Xanathar one we got this year.
One Punch Man (Show)
If we’re sticking to the theme of two animes, one being a show and one being a meet & greet/photo-op zone. One of the animes needs some epic action sequences to take over the DreamWorks Theater. The first one that comes to mind for me is One Punch Man. Not only is there potential for the 4D mechanisms of the seats but I know One Punch Man merch would sell.
Death Note (Meet & Greets)
There’s a few anime’s that are recognized by those that don’t even watch anime. Death Note is one of those anime’s. Characters and a story that is instantly recognized. And I think that Ryuk would be such a cool character to be brought to life. His towering presence would make a statement. Plus they could have some apple themed snacks to come from death note!
Jurassic Park (Tram)
Every year they put on this event, I think they should base the tram experience on one of the classic Universal films. The one I’d love to see is Jurassic Park, not World, Park. Now obviously it was filmed in Hawaii but I’m sure they could set up a really good experience in a sound stage or somewhere else. But setting it up the same way they did Back to the future would be beautiful. Picture this, you walk into the sound stage and hear “Welcome, to Jurassic Park.” And the Jurassic Park theme plays as you see a few dinosaurs in the distance, how could you not get the chills?
Beetlejuice (Walk-Through)
I would have said Five Nights At Freddy’s but I think that might be at Halloween Horror Nights this year, and I don’t think it should be something really scary. I think FNaF could go either way, but I think Beetlejuice could be a hilarious walk-through experience possibly even with some sort of photo-op at the end. But the story to the walk through writes itself, start at the house, to the miniature graveyard, and to the afterlife! There could be some amazing set pieces in the Beetlejuice house.
