NEW WORLD Improves Endgame With New Features

The folks at Amazon Games continue to pump out content, updates, and fixes to their already massive MMORPG New World with a whole slew of new fixes and an endgame feature called Expedition Mutators along with other improvements, balance tweaks, and goodies across the board. You can check out the devs themselves playing a lengthy session featuring a mutated expedition above.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online Expedition Mutators increase the challenge of Expeditions with even bigger rewards for players. Expedition Mutators modify the “Normal” and “Named” enemies found in New World’s Expeditions, increasing the complexity and unpredictability of enemy encounters. New bespoke gear and resources can be found, providing players with more opportunities to increase their power level. Unique combinations of Expeditions and Mutations will rotate each week, and players will battle their way up a ladder of difficulty.


In addition to Expedition Mutators, additional Spirit Shrines, decreased cost for Fast Travel and balance changes have been added to the game. Some of these key updates include:


Umbral Shards: This update introduces Umbral Shards – a mysterious, powerful resource that enables players to take an item with a Gear Score of 590 all the way up to a Gear Score of 625. This resource can be acquired by completing Mutated Expeditions, crafting a Gear Score 600 item when players’ expertise with that item is also at 600, or opening a Gypsum Cast when players’ Expertise for that item is also at 600.

Fast Travel Costs: This release includes an update that dramatically reduces the distance factor in the amount of Azoth required for each trip, and adds six additional Spirit Shrines, allowing players to navigate the map even faster make all the difference.
