Nintendo has revealed its financial performance for the past nine months, ending December 2017. Of course, within that period, Nintendo has released its ultra successful hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch, along with some hit first party titles such as Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which won numerous Game of the Year Awards, and many more.

Nintendo’s sales have skyrocketed by 176%, or a massive $7.9 billion. Profits on the other hand has reached $1.4 billion, that represents a 494% increase compared to the previous year. Nintendo credits these tremendous growth in figures to the Nintendo Switch hardware sales, which sold well in its initial launch, and rose even more during the holiday season.

All in all, Nintendo was able to sell a whopping 12.13 million units of the Switch in a nine month period, and has sold around 2.74 million during its initial launch. This brings us to a total of 14.78 million units sold in a span of 10 months.

In terms of games on the other hand, several first party titles have reached some pretty high sales figures as well. Starting with Super Mario Odyssey that was able to attain 9 million units sold globally. Nintendo also revealed that 8 games from the Switch’s library was able to reach the million units sold mark for the fiscal year, including games by third party developers.

The Nintendo 3DS on the other hand, still contributed to Nintendo’s financial success this year, the company revealed. Both Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon sold a combined sales of 7 million units, which is pretty impressive given that both these games just launched last November of 2017. Even though Nintendo said that the launch of the Switch did not weaken the hardware sales of the 3DS, its overall software sales declined by 33% year-on-year.
