OVERKILL Giving Away 5 million Copies of PAYDAY 2 on Steam
Game Developer Overkill is giving away 5 million copies of Payday 2 on Steam for a limited time. When the game downloads reach 5 million, or 21 June arrives before then, the freebie will no longer be available.
Overkill is getting ready to release its Payday 2 Ultimate Edition which features all 48 paid DLCs that have been added to the game since its release. All these DLCs have been made unavailable until the launch of this edition, but you can get the main game absolutely free. The Ultimate Edition is expected to cost $45, but discounts may apply to those who already own some premium content.
Also, if you obtain the game or already have it, you will be able to get the VR support for free when it becomes available. So if you really fancy obtaining this game for free, head on over to Steam and install it.
Personally, I've never been into the Payday games as yet, but this may just give me a reason to try it out. For those of you who have no idea what Payday 2 is about, here's a short write-up from Overkill with the release trailer:
PAYDAY 2 is an action-packed, four-player co-op shooter that once again lets gamers don the masks of the original PAYDAY crew - Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains - as they descend on Washington DC for an epic crime spree.
The new CRIMENET network offers a huge range of dynamic contracts, and players are free to choose anything from small-time convenience store hits or kidnappings, to big league cyber-crime or emptying out major bank vaults for that epic PAYDAY. While in DC, why not participate in the local community, and run a few political errands?
Up to four friends co-operate on the hits, and as the crew progresses the jobs become bigger, better and more rewarding. Along with earning more money and becoming a legendary criminal comes a new character customization and crafting system that lets crews build and customize their own guns and gear.
