Pokémon Go seems to be reinventing itself from a simple “catch ‘em all” app, to a game that will introduce a storyline to make players’ experience more interesting than ever by adding new features such as a storyline, daily quests, and the addition of Mew, the legendary Pokémon.
The latest update for the mobile game, which is detailed in the developer's blog, adds the Field Research, and Special Research features that give players more things to do in the game. The Special Research feature adds a story to the game, where players gain the ability to research tasks given by Professor Willow and completing them will lead to more rewards, and even a chance encounter with Mew.
On the other hand, Field Research quests are triggered at PokéStops and players can embark on multiple quests per day. Developer Niantic described the tasks as “a wide range of Pokémon-related activities.”
In addition, as the difficulty of the quests gets more challenging, the pay off that players will receive through rewards will be better as well, which they’ll be able to cash-in with the new stamp system.
“Trainers can also earn one stamp per day by completing at least one Field Research Task,” Niantic said via their official blog. “When Trainers collect seven stamps, they can achieve a Research Breakthrough to receive even greater rewards - perhaps even an encounter with a legendary Pokémon.”
