Quick Review - CONQUEST DARK: Sword and Sorcery Madness

Intro and Gameplay

Ohhhh boy do I love finding little hidden gems of goodness like Conquest Dark. In the throws of Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur, there are so many other games dropping that may not get the attention they should. Games like this, Conquest Dark deserves your attention and hard-earned monies!

Basically a sword & sorcery ARPG with survivors-like gameplay, when I first booted up Dark, I was interested in the fantasy aspect but wasn’t expecting much else. Me = wrong. Conquest Dark is one of the best surprises of 2025 with a ton of chaotic action with plenty of swords AND sorcery! I loved chopping, burning, slicing, and melting waves of enemies with all sorts of tools at my disposal. And in a weird time where so many many things are taboo, the included nudity option? Absolutely hilarious. Performing rituals to clear caves, coves, and deserts filled with a nice assortment of enemies has never felt better.

Graphics and Sound

Solid and incredibly detailed for a game like this, it is your normal pixel-heavy slop. These are quality graphics and animations with solid audio to boot. Incredibly impressive for an indie title.

The biggest surprise is how awesome the spell, lighting, and environment effects can be as clearly shown in the shot below.

Feedback and Verdict

There are some difficulty spikes that felt a little unbalanced overall but I can accept that as I know the game will be patched and balanced frequently. There is some polish in the map area that could be applied as well IMHO.

Not expecting much at the beginning, Conquest Dark has turned into one of my fave indie games I’ve played this year. It is a riot with the in-your-face attitude that so many games try to achieve but ultimately fail to bring. With a meaty demo available and a fair price for the full EA game, this is a no-brainer. A rousing adventure that every survivors-like fan needs to play.
