Revealed at last night’s The Game Awards, ARC Raiders, a cooperative third-person PvE shooter gives players the chance to fight a hostile mechanical force like no other. Created by Embark Studios, the game is a really ambitious-looking title that makes a post-apocalyptic world overrun by maniacal robots look fun.
The mechanical beings are called ARC, and destroying them isn’t as easy as you may think. It takes a team to kill a big one and in doing so, you are rewarded handsomely. Shooting, looting, scouting, and scavenging are what a Raider does, and that is what players will come to learn as well as how to use their surroundings in their favor.
“We started Embark Studios three years ago with a blank canvas and some big ideas. Today, that canvas is a lot less blank and those ideas are becoming realities,” said Patrick Söderlund, co-founder and CEO of Embark Studios. “With this reveal, we want to celebrate gameplay and give players more than a hint of how ARC Raiders looks and what it feels like to play. Ultimately for a co-op action game like ARC Raiders, that's what matters the most. We look forward to sharing more about the game in the coming months.”
ARC Raiders is planned to release in 2022 as a free-to-play title for PC (Epic Games Store and Steam), Nvidia GeForce NOW, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
