The Switch And SNES Outsold The PS4 And Xbox One Again
Nintendo’s performance this year has been exemplary ever since the Switch was released earlier this year. Last September, Nintendo has taken the top two spots on the U.S. hardware sales charts, which they still hold until the end of October.
On the top of the list is the Nintendo Switch, the latest hybrid system that has been selling like crazy in the past few months. This was followed by the release of the Super NES Classic Edition that has ignited a nostalgic trip among the gaming community ever since its release. The Super NES Classic Edition has been selling really well that in September, an inversion occurred when the NES Classic overtook the Switch for a brief amount of time.
2017 has been a good year for Nintendo thanks to the innovation of the Switch that has outsold the PS4 and Xbox One every month from July onward. According to the data collected by retail tracking firm NPD Group, Nintendo’s hardware performance (including the 3DS) is responsible for two-thirds of all U.S. gaming hardware sales, which hasn’t happened since 2011.
If you are looking to get your hands on the SNES Classic, Nintendo promised to produce more units and have since been able to keep that promise as stocks continue to serve the demand. The Switch is a different story though, stocks are still stiff, however Nintendo continues to increase production, in preparation for the holiday season.
