In a time where remakes and remasters are a dime a dozen, there can truly never be enough of them. It seems to be a never-ending list that keeps on growing. Metal Gear Solid has had a longing for a remake for years but unfortunately, that decision is up to Konami. Although there have been rumors thrown around of various projects involving some of Konami’s greatest franchises, we will believe it when we see it.

In the meantime, we have talented and hardcore fans to thank for awesome content to drip-feed us while we eagerly await an official release. One of those fine citizens is Erasmus Brosdau. He is currently working on an Unreal Engine 5 remake of the intro for Metal Gear Solid 2 and has graced the internet with a very quick snippet of footage, via his Twitter.

As you can see, Snake is seen in the middle of his heroic fall, directly after jumping off the bridge and landing on the tanker. You can see the stealth camo fizzing out and sparking electricity off of his suit, right before it malfunctions. Any fan will recognize this iconic scene from the original E3 trailer back in 2000. Metal Gear Solid 2 had an incredible impact on gaming history and was released a year after the PS2 launched and sold over 7 million copies worldwide. The stealth action game helped sell Sony’s consoles and garnered a plethora of new fans for the franchise since it was one of the few games to actually play on the PS2.

This is clearly an early look at a work-in-progress love project, but we can’t imagine anyone else better to make it. Erasmus Brosdau shook the internet in 2018 with his release of the Unreal Engine 4 remake of the Metal Gear Solid intro, which has accumulated over 4 million views to date. That project captivated fans with its stunning graphical improvements and spot-on accuracy to detail. If you missed it, or if you want to salivate over that sweet remake intro again, check out the video below.

We will be sure to keep you posted as soon as the full intro is complete. If anything, this gives a glimmer of hope of what can be possible on current hardware if a remake were in the cards. Maybe one day we’ll get that playable version we have all been waiting for.
