Gameplay Of ATOMIC HEART Reinforces The Crazy World Of An Alternate Soviet Union

The latest trailer for Atomic Heart shows off the gameplay of the Soviet action-adventure built on the Unreal Engine 4. And it continues the trend of weird and unsettling that has permeated all of the teasers and trailers for the game so far.

The USSR laboratory is full of the unusual and the experimental. Robots and alien constructs and just about anything to surprise and amaze you are packed into less than a minute of footage.

The upcoming first-person shooter takes place in the Soviet Union, in an alternate universe where the global superpower explores some very interesting scientific and technological endeavors, and players will get to experience all of the craziness.

Here’s a summary of what to expect from developer Mundfish:

Atomic Heart is a story is about all the things that could have happened in the reality of the USSR but didn’t. The technological revolution has already occurred—robots, the Internet, and holograms have already been invented, but all these innovations are immersed in the atmosphere of communism, imperialism, and confrontation with the West.

The protagonist of the game is a Soviet KGB officer, and his Party sends him to Facility 3826 to report back on what’s happening. Different outdoor biomes and a multi-level laboratory offer much to explore. Combat vehicles and other robots were built at the facility to serve the needs of the Soviet industry or to help Soviet citizens in daily life.

It’s an intriguing visual feast with Bioshock-vibes and a captivating world.

The teaser is the first reveal of Atomic Heart gameplay in months, but if you missed the cinematic teaser from last year, you can watch it here. And for more on the action RPG, check out the official page here.
