Let's Talk About It - Xbox Games Showcase Extended

Sunday was one of the best days that I’ve experienced since this pandemic started. Following the Xbox + Bethesda Game Showcase at E3, I was exhausted. Between the Sea of Thieves: A Pirates Life content and the majority of games shown being added to Game Pass on day one, it was a lot to take in.

I honestly had a smile on my face from the time the show started, which lasted even after it ended. It was one of those shows that only come around every few years. The best part though, we get more content today! Check out the sweet tweet down below!

The fact that we get more info from the above developers during this Xbox Games Extended Showcase just goes to show that Xbox has even more up its sleeve than what was shown at E3. Seeing Ninja Theory definitely brings with it the suspicion that we’ll see something for Hellblade II. We saw a teaser months ago so it’d be nice to see how it’s coming along.

The other dev I’m super excited to see on the list is Rare. Of course, they could be bringing Sea of Thieves content with them but I’m hoping to see them revive an older IP like Banjo or Conker. I know that Phil Spencer (Head of Xbox) has been a big advocate for bringing back older IPs to gamers’ hands whether it be through backward compatibility or through remasters such as Voodoo Vince.

Xbox has slowly become a console for all gamers. It was once the console for the more hardcore online player but is definitely innovating to fit the needs of any kind of gamer. Their first-party titles alone are so much more diverse than they were during the Xbox 360 era. And the added benefit of something like Game Pass is just another example of them having a sweeping blanket of titles for any player to choose from.

I do want to be clear though that I love all gaming platforms and was pretty ecstatic by what Nintendo revealed during their Nintendo Direct. The thing is, I have to give credit where credit is due. Xbox is continuously making great decisions lately. Today should give us a good sense of if the great ideas will keep rolling when we see what’s up their sleeve.

What did you think about the Xbox + Bethesda Game Showcase last weekend? Did it measure up to your expectations or was it just average? Do you think PlayStation can come up with something that truly rivals Game Pass? What do you think we’ll see at the extended showcase today?
