The Xbox Series X Is Projected To Outsell The PlayStation 5 This Holiday Season

With the overwhelming amount of news circling around the internet about the latest console wars, there’s no doubt that both machines have their pros and cons. While Sony has the titles, Xbox has a more user-friendly approach. Sony focuses on next-gen possibilities and Xbox focuses on its brand as a whole. It’s interesting to see each ones’ approach this time around as there is definitely more to take in than there was when the current consoles came out. But the question always pops up; Who’s going to be the penultimate winner?

A leading SEO marketing firm The Hoth did the dirty work of researching and analyzing Google Trends data throughout 2020 to find out who may be the winner based on their popularity. A lot of the interest has peaked in the last month since both consoles’ prices being told as well as their release dates. As the title suggests, it’s projected that the Xbox Series X will outsell the PlayStation 5. But by how much exactly? They estimate that it’ll be a 2:1 win for the Xbox console.

CMO of The Hoth, Clayton Johnson had this to say about their findings,

“It’s been seven years since the last console war and statistics indicate that Sony was by far the big winners, selling twice as many PS4s as Microsoft did Xbox Ones and if this trend data is anything to go by, it looks like the pattern will be reversed, at least for the first Christmas.” and continued “With video games now one of the biggest forms of entertainment in the world, it is essential for us as an SEO firm to stay up to date with the latest video game trends, and I’m really excited to see what this new generation has in store and what the wider influence on society will be.”

As an impartial gamer who owns both current consoles, I do think it’s interesting to see that Xbox is the leader right now. I personally like their business strategy because it doesn’t focus explicitly on moving gamers to next-gen immediately. While Sony may have some steller titles on the way, during a pandemic it can be hard for players to find the funds to use on a new gaming console when there are more important duties they have in their lives. Xbox realized this early on and knew that what its gamers needed was to know that Xbox had their backs whether they could upgrade or not, and that really means something.
