Launching a new first-person shooter title in a popular series is something we have been seeing AAA titles do on an annual basis. What we don't see often enough is a unique take on these games that present new game modes. EA and DICE are looking to bring some quality aspects to Battlefield 2042 right from the game’s initial launch.

Alongside All-Out Warefare and Battlefield Portal, they are introducing the game mode titled Hazard Zone. In this new game high-stakes game mode, squads will face an extraction-based task in which players will need to build their four-player team based on playstyle. Each specialist brings a new asset and characteristic to the squad. Offensive players can consider Webster Mackay and Maria Falck, who bring mobility and healing on the move. Defensive players can consider Kimble “Irish” Graves and Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky, whose Fortification System and SG-36 Sentry Gun will help lock down an area of the map. As more specialists are revealed, players can see more ways to adapt their squad further.

Essentially, the goal is to achieve the objective of retrieving Data Drives that are scattered throughout the battlefield. This task must be completed while fighting off opposing squads with the same goal. There will be some environmental challenges, such as an unyielding Tornado, and deadly Occupying Forces that will drain resources and alert nearby enemies as well. This goal is achieved through the five main phases of the match: Strategize and Equip, Insert, Retrieve, First Extraction, and Last Extraction.

While this may feel like a lot of information at first, most game modes have a lot of details when explained but are easy to follow once played. Hopefully, Hazard Mode's premiere trailer can help show what there is to expect with this one. Either way, it's just another thing to look forward to when Battlefield 2042 releases on November 19th for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
