Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is almost here, and Square Enix have been ramping up marketing with more details of the highly anticipated release. Today, they unveiled a new trailer showcasing a mix of high-quality cinematics and gameplay, but that’s not at all. The Twitter account for Square Enix shared the first look at the game’s fast travel speed and it’s quite impressive.
As you can see it takes less than 5 seconds to travel a significant distance in the open world. This wouldn’t have been possible on the PS4, and it’s nice to see more PS5 releases leveraging the console’s SSD. While this isn’t as fast something like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it’s still quite fast regardless.
Similar to Final Fantasy 16, this is a PS5 exclusive, and we’re excited to see how big of a technical step up it is compared to not just Final Fantasy 16, but Final Fantasy VII Remake as well.
Personally, I’m still waiting for the PC version of Final Fantasy 16, and I’m sure it’s going to be a while before Final Fantasy VII Remake makes it to the platform as well. Either way, I’ll be hoping there isn’t any stuttering and we don’t see a repeat of the issues we saw in the first Remake release.
