As we head into 2024, GameTyrant is your source for some of the most highly anticipated games that are set for release this year. Last year was an awesome year for video games and if 2024 can match it then gamers are going to have a memorable year indeed.
All five new games here will be released within the first three months of the year, so they really are just around the corner if you want to pick them up.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
I am thrilled to be able to step back into a Prince of Persia game as we haven’t had one since 2010. I am going to play it on my Switch, but it will also be available on pretty much all major consoles and on computers. It is not quite the same as the Prince of Persia games of the past, The Lost Crown is a side-scrolling adventure game. The key part here is adventure and the game really is full of it. There is lots to discover including various secret rooms and puzzles which players can choose to solve.
The Lost Crown has already received positive reviews from critics and we expect Ubisoft to really kick on again with their Prince of Persia titles. The Lost Crown is likely to be a success, so expect to see plenty more games in the series in the future too.

Rising Lords
A fun-looking Medieval turn-based strategy game by independent studio Argonwood. Here, you get to take charge of your own small town and build it up in order to take on the vast in-game world. Again, I will likely purchase this one for my Switch as it seems like a nice game to pick up and put down whenever you feel like playing. Rising Lords uses real places from the United Kingdom too with the idea being to create alliances and reign over the whole of the United Kingdom.
There are card and board game elements to this one too, which helps to give the game a cosy feel. It’s not like your typical medieval free to play games which come with in-game purchases. This is a proper video game with no in-game purchases which just offers a good time and lots of decision making. There is a campaign mode which I will begin with but also a multiplayer mode and a quick play mode. You get to dictate what happens, whether that be raising taxes so you have a rich treasury, or creating a huge army of knights by training your people.

Skull and Bones
What started out as a spin-off of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, Skull and Bones has been no secret as the games producers Ubisoft Singapore have delayed the release several times now. However, I hope the delays are behind them now as I cannot wait to play this pirate themed action-adventure.
There will be both a single-player campaign mode as well as the chance to play online multiplayer. We suspect that the multiplayer aspect will decide whether Skull and Bones will be a success or not.

Dragon’s Dogma 2
The sequel to CapCom’s criminally underrated RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2 showcases several amazing elements akin to the likes of Witcher WIld Hunt, Dark Souls and Elden Ring. There will be plenty of boss fights as you explore the massive open world. There will also be plenty of puzzles to solve and other hidden secrets.
The sequel did eventually come out on the Switch and we expect the same will happen eventually with Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, it is likely it will be released for the upcoming Switch 2 console. I have actually just pre-ordered Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen for the Switch due to its excellent reviews.

Deadspin's Midnight Thirst
According to the slot games designers, Red Tiger Gaming, Midnight Thirst is a passionate and dramatic story which features romance as well as a little blood. Midnight Thirst is likely to be a horror themed slot game which is played on five reels and four rows with 1024 paylines.
Red Tiger Gaming are known for their awesome looking games, but we expect Midnight Thirst to become one of the top slot games with high volatility in 2024 due to its unique features and standout gameplay.
