HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST Has Gone Gold

Guerrilla Games’ upcoming adventure game, Horizon Forbidden West, has officially gone gold as of today, January 27th, 2022. This essentially means that the game is ready to be shipped to retailers and confirms that the game won’t see any more delays past its current release date.

The announcement also came with a blog post from Angie Smets, a Studio Director & Executive Producer at Guerrilla. In her post, Smets revealed a look of Forbidden West running on a PlayStation 4 Pro, the first time the game has been seen on last-generation hardware. The post reiterates that the Forbidden West was developed with both the PS4 and PS5 in mind and that it will be an enjoyable experience on both consoles.

Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, a post-apocalyptic, action-adventure game that puts players in the role of Aloy, a young woman desperate to find answers about her past and the dangerous new enemies that threaten her way of life. Forbidden West picks up just a few months after the events of the first game and will take Aloy on a new adventure in never-before-seen land.

This announcement comes just a few weeks before Horizon Forbidden West‘s release date of February 18th, 2022. Guerrilla and PlayStation have been aggressive in showing the game off over the past few weeks, revealing both a story trailer and deep dive into each of the game’s characters and the actors portraying them.
